Exopterygota is a type of insect development characterized by the gradual and incomplete metamorphosis, where the young nymphs resemble miniature adults and gradually develop wings and reproductive organs as they molt and grow. This type of development differs from the more advanced holometabolous insects, where larvae are completely different from adults and undergo a dramatic transformation during the pupal stage.
