Developmental Neuroscience
Developmental Neuroscience focuses on studying the development of the nervous system, including the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves. It investigates how the nervous system grows, matures, and changes over time, from prenatal stages through childhood, adolescence, and into adulthood. Researchers in this field examine the genetic, molecular, cellular, and behavioral processes that underlie neural development, seeking to understand how these processes are regulated and how they contribute to the establishment of normal brain function. The goal of developmental neuroscience is to uncover the mechanisms that govern brain development and to identify how disruptions in these processes can lead to neurological and psychiatric disorders.
