Chelicerata

Chelicerata is a diverse group of arthropods characterized by the presence of chelicerae - specialized appendages near the mouth used for feeding. Members of this group include spiders, scorpions, ticks, and mites. Chelicerates typically have two main body segments, the cephalothorax and abdomen, and usually possess eight legs. They also lack antennae and have simple eyes, or sometimes no eyes at all. Chelicerates are found in various terrestrial and aquatic habitats, playing important roles in ecosystems as predators, scavengers, and parasites.
