Waterspout
A waterspout is a whirling column of air and water mist that occurs over a body of water, typically a sea or ocean. Waterspouts are often accompanied by dark, ominous clouds and can sometimes be mistaken for tornadoes. They are formed when a rapidly rotating column of air extends downward from a cumulonimbus cloud and comes into contact with the water's surface, creating a vortex that picks up water droplets and mist. Waterspouts are capable of causing damage if they come ashore, but most dissipate before reaching land.
