Seahorses
Seahorses are small marine fish that belong to the genus Hippocampus. They have a unique appearance with a horse-like head, a prehensile tail, and a fused jaw that forms a tube-like snout. Seahorses are known for their distinctive method of reproduction, in which the male seahorse carries and gives birth to the young. They are found in shallow tropical and temperate waters around the world, often clinging onto seagrasses and coral reefs with their tails. Seahorses feed primarily on small crustaceans and plankton, using their long snouts to suck in their prey. These fascinating creatures are popular in aquariums and are also used in traditional medicine and as curiosities in dried form.
