Pulsars
Pulsars are highly magnetized rotating neutron stars that emit beams of electromagnetic radiation out of their magnetic poles. These beams are observed as pulses of radiation as the pulsar rotates, giving them their name. Pulsars are incredibly dense, with masses greater than that of the Sun packed into a sphere only a few kilometers in diameter. They are known for their precise and regular pulse intervals, which can range from milliseconds to seconds. Pulsars are important astronomical objects used for studying a variety of phenomena, including general relativity, neutron star structure, and the interstellar medium.
