Pole Vault
Pole vault is a track and field event in which an athlete uses a long, flexible pole to propel themselves over a high bar. The athlete sprints down a runway, plants the pole in a box, and then uses the pole to lift themselves over the bar as they twist their body upside down. The height of the bar is gradually raised during the competition, with the winner being the athlete who clears the highest height. Pole vault requires a combination of speed, strength, agility, and technique.
