Pole vault equipment includes a pole, which is typically made of fiberglass or carbon fiber, that athletes use to propel themselves over a high bar. The pole features a grip area for the athlete to hold onto as they run and plant the pole into the ground to launch themselves into the air. Other equipment used in pole vaulting includes landing mats, which are placed on the ground to provide a soft landing for the athlete when they clear the bar. Additionally, athletes may use spikes on their shoes to provide traction and grip on the runway as they approach the bar.
