Milky Way Galaxy

The Milky Way Galaxy is a barred spiral galaxy that contains our solar system. It is home to billions of stars, planets, asteroids, and other celestial objects. The Milky Way is approximately 100,000 light-years in diameter and is located in the Local Group of galaxies. It is named for its appearance as a faint band of light in the night sky, caused by the combined light of billions of stars. The Milky Way is constantly rotating, with our solar system orbiting around its center at a speed of about 515,000 miles per hour. It is estimated to contain between 100 and 400 billion stars, as well as a supermassive black hole at its center.
