Indian Elephant

The Indian Elephant, also known as Elephas maximus indicus, is one of three recognized subspecies of the Asian elephant. They are typically smaller than their African counterparts, with males reaching heights of up to 10 feet and weighing around 5,500 to 11,000 pounds. Indian Elephants are characterized by their large, curved tusks, which are present in both males and females. They have a grey skin color with sparse hair on their body, and their ears are smaller than those of African elephants. Indian Elephants are primarily found in India, Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh, and are known for their significance in cultural and religious traditions in South Asia.
