Supernova
A supernova is a cataclysmic explosion of a star, resulting in the brightest stellar event observed from Earth. It represents the final phase of a massive star's life cycle and occurs when the core of the star can no longer sustain nuclear fusion. The energy released during this event causes the star to briefly outshine entire galaxies before gradually fading away over several months or years. Supernovae play a crucial role in the synthesis and dispersal of heavy elements throughout the universe, as well as triggering the formation of new stars within nearby molecular clouds. They serve as vital objects of study for astronomers, offering insights into stellar evolution, cosmic distances, and fundamental physics. As an integral part of planetary science, they also contribute to our understanding of the conditions that led to the formation of our own solar system.
