Curriculum Development
Curriculum Development, within the context of Math Education at the elementary level, is the process of designing and organizing a comprehensive and coherent sequence of instruction to promote student learning in mathematics. It involves creating clear learning objectives, selecting appropriate teaching strategies, and developing assessments that align with those objectives. The curriculum should be designed to build upon students' prior knowledge and skills, engage them in meaningful mathematical experiences, and help them develop conceptual understanding as well as procedural fluency. In the hierarchy of Education, Elementary Education, Math Education, and Instructional Design, Curriculum Development plays a critical role in ensuring that instruction is purposeful, focused, and effective in promoting student learning in mathematics.
