Tarantula
Tarantulas are a type of spider, characterized by their large size and hairy bodies. They belong to the family Theraphosidae and can be found on every continent except Antarctica. Although often associated with tropical environments, tarantulas can also be found in temperate regions. Tarantulas have eight legs and two fangs that they use to inject venom into their prey. They are nocturnal hunters, typically feeding on insects and other small animals. Tarantulas possess urticating hairs on their abdomen, which they can kick off and release into the air as a defense mechanism against predators. In the hierarchy, tarantulas fall under the broader category of spiders (Arachnids), which in turn belong to the phylum Arthropoda within the animal kingdom. Within this hierarchy, tarantulas are one of many types of spiders, but they are unique due to their large size and distinctive physical features. Tarantulas play an important role in controlling insect populations and are often kept as pets due to their fascinating behavior and low maintenance requirements. However, it is essential to handle them with care and respect, as they can be aggressive if threatened or provoked.
