Geysers

Definition of Geysers as it relates to Places, Natural Wonders, Geyser, Underwater Geysers

Geysers under "Underwater Geysers" are vents on the ocean floor that periodically release plumes of hot water and steam. These powerful geological features are driven by the same geothermal processes that create land-based geysers, but they occur in extreme environments that make them both fascinating and difficult to study. Underwater geysers are a type of hydrothermal vent, which also includes "black smokers" and other forms of seafloor venting. The heat and mineral-rich fluids expelled by underwater geysers support unique ecosystems, teeming with extremophile organisms that have adapted to survive in these harsh conditions. As a result, underwater geysers offer valuable insights into the limits of life on Earth and the potential for life elsewhere in the universe.
