Solid State Drives
Definition of Solid State Drives as it relates to Electronics, Computers, Quantum Computers
A Solid State Drive (SSD) is an electronic storage device used in computers and quantum computers. It is a type of non-volatile memory that stores persistent data on solid-state flash memory, which eliminates the need for mechanical moving parts such as spinning disks and movable read/write heads found in traditional hard drives. This results in faster access time, higher durability, and lower power consumption compared to conventional hard disk drives (HDDs). SSDs are available in various form factors, including 2.5-inch, M.2, and U.2, and can be used as a primary storage device or supplementary storage alongside HDDs for improved performance and capacity.
