Memory

Definition of Memory as it relates to Electronics, Computers, Embedded Systems

Memory, as a concept, refers to the capacity to store, retrieve and process information. In electronics, memory can be volatile or non-volatile. Volatile memory requires power to maintain its stored data while non-volatile memory does not. Computers use various types of memory such as RAM (Random Access Memory) and ROM (Read Only Memory). Embedded systems often utilize memory technologies like EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory) or flash memory for data storage and program execution. At its core, memory is fundamental to the operation of all digital devices, serving as a repository for instructions, data, and system state information.
