Religion

Definition of Religion as it relates to Cultures, Hispanic Culture, Cuban Culture

Religion: A deeply ingrained set of beliefs, practices, and rituals that shape the cultural identity and worldview of communities. It encompasses spiritual traditions, deities, sacred texts, moral values, and rites of passage that are passed down through generations. In the context of Hispanic culture, religion often refers to the blending of indigenous, African, and Catholic influences, resulting in unique forms of spirituality such as Santería and Espiritismo. Similarly, Cuban culture is heavily influenced by a mix of Catholicism, Afro-Cuban traditions, and Spiritism, giving rise to practices like Regla de Ocha (also known as Santería) and Palo Mayombe. Religion thus serves as a powerful force that unites communities, shapes cultural expression, and provides a framework for understanding the world and one's place in it.
