The game then spread to Persia, where it evolved and became shatranj, before being introduced to Europe via Islamic conquest. This rich history has allowed chess to be deeply ingrained in various cultures around the world, each adding their own unique twist to the game. In Russia, chess holds a special significance, with the country boasting some of the greatest players in history, such as Garry Kasparov and Anatoly Karpov. The game is also considered a sport, governed by the World Chess Federation (FIDE), which organizes international competitions and tournaments, including the prestigious World Championship. Chess is not only a recreational activity but also an intellectual pursuit that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and mental agility, making it a valuable tool for personal development and education.
