Definition of Folklore as it relates to Cultures, Cultural Anthropology, Symbolic Systems

Folklore: A body of cultural traditions, practices, narratives, and expressive forms passed down through generations via word-of-mouth or observation. Often deeply intertwined with community identity and shared history, folklore encompasses a wide array of genres such as myths, legends, folk tales, proverbs, riddles, songs, ballads, dance, games, customs, and material culture. Folklore studies explore the social functions, contexts, variations, and adaptations of these cultural artifacts within specific cultural groups or societies, shedding light on human creativity, values, beliefs, and worldviews.
