Folklore
Folklore: A body of expressive culture, including verbal, material, and customary forms, shared among members of a group who often learn these traditions informally by word of mouth and example rather than through formal education. Folklore is deeply rooted in cultural anthropology as it provides insights into the values, beliefs, and practices of various cultures, both past and present. It encompasses oral traditions such as myths, legends, folktales, proverbs, riddles, songs, and chants that are passed down through generations, reflecting a community's collective wisdom, history, and identity. Material culture includes objects like textiles, pottery, ornaments, and architectural styles that convey cultural meaning and aesthetic values. Customary traditions refer to unwritten rules governing social behavior, such as etiquette, rituals, festivals, and rites of passage. Folklore is a vital aspect of intangible cultural heritage and continues to evolve with contemporary issues and global exchanges while maintaining its connection to the past.
