Social Norms
Social Norms refer to the unwritten rules and expectations that guide behavior within a group or society. These norms are informed by cultural values, beliefs, and traditions, and can vary significantly across different cultures. In Asian culture, for example, social norms often emphasize respect for elders, collective responsibility, and harmony in interpersonal relationships. Korean culture, as a subset of Asian culture, shares many of these values but also has its own unique social norms, such as the importance of maintaining "face" or social status, and the practice of jeong, a deep emotional bond between people. Social norms can be both formal, like laws and regulations, and informal, like societal expectations and customs. They play a crucial role in shaping individual behavior and maintaining social order.
