Quantum Computing is a branch of computer science and data structures that focuses on the development of computational systems based on quantum mechanics concepts. Unlike classical computers, which use bits as their smallest unit of information, quantum computers use quantum bits or qubits. Qubits can exist in multiple states at once thanks to superposition, allowing quantum computers to process a higher number of possibilities simultaneously through entanglement and interference. This unique approach to computing enables quantum computers to solve complex problems more efficiently than classical computers in areas such as cryptography, optimization, and simulation. As part of the Science/Computer Science/Data Structures hierarchy, Quantum Computing bridges the gap between abstract data representation and physical implementation, providing a new perspective on how we can manipulate, store, and process information using quantum mechanical phenomena.
