Definition of Civics Education as it relates to Education, Social Studies Education, Adult Education

Civics Education: The study and understanding of the rights and responsibilities of citizens in a democratic society, encompassing knowledge of government structures, civic participation, and societal issues at local, national, and global levels. This includes education for both children and adults in formal and informal settings, with an aim to foster informed, engaged, and responsible members of the community.
