Academic advising is a collaborative process between an academic advisor and student, aimed at guiding students in their educational journey. It encompasses education as a whole, including both traditional and continuing education, and secondary education specifically. The role of an academic advisor often includes helping students to identify their strengths, interests, and goals; understanding program requirements and policies; making informed decisions about course selection and sequencing; developing academic plans and strategies for success; and connecting students with resources and opportunities on campus. Academic advising is a critical component of student success, as it empowers students to take ownership of their education and make informed decisions about their future.
