Supply Chain Management (SCM) is the systematic coordination and management of activities involved in moving a product or service from its beginning through to its end customer. SCM is a critical component of business strategy and financial management as it directly impacts an organization's profitability through effective budget analysis and cost control. It involves the integration of various business processes to ensure the timely delivery of goods and services at the lowest possible cost while maintaining high levels of quality and customer satisfaction. Ultimately, SCM is about creating value for customers and shareholders by optimizing the flow of goods and information throughout the entire supply chain.
