Definition of Photography as it relates to Art, Performance Art, Contemporary Art

Land Art, also known as Earth Art, is an artistic movement that emerged in the late 1960s and early 1970s. It is characterized by large-scale sculptures and installations created directly in the natural environment, using materials such as soil, rocks, sand, and other organic elements. Land Art challenges traditional notions of art by blurring the boundaries between nature and culture, art and life. It often involves a performative aspect, with artists working on-site and engaging directly with the landscape, and is closely linked to Conceptual Art in its emphasis on ideas over finished objects. Land Art is also inherently site-specific, responding to and transforming the unique characteristics of a particular location, and is thus often associated with Landscape Art and Environmental Art.
