Definition of Op Art as it relates to Art, Figurative Art, Expressionist Figurative Art

Futurism: A revolutionary art movement originating in Italy in the early 20th century, characterized by its focus on dynamism, speed, technology, and the modern urban experience. It sought to break away from traditional artistic practices, embracing instead a bold, experimental style that captured the spirit of the machine age. Futurist artists often employed techniques such as fragmentation, distortion, and simultaneity to convey a sense of movement and change. While figurative art remained an important aspect of the movement, many futurists also explored abstraction and non-representational forms. Expressionist figurative art, in particular, shared certain affinities with futurism, as both movements sought to capture the emotional intensity of modern life through vivid, dynamic imagery.
