Symbolism
Post-Impressionism is an artistic movement that emerged in France in the late 19th century as a reaction against Impressionism. It is characterized by a focus on expressing emotion and personal vision over capturing visual reality. Post-Impressionist artists often used vivid colors, bold brushstrokes, and unconventional compositions to create works that were both visually striking and emotionally resonant. They also experimented with new techniques such as pointillism and divisionism, which involved applying small dots or strokes of pure color to the canvas in order to create a more luminous effect. Some notable Post-Impressionist artists include Vincent van Gogh, Paul Cézanne, and Georges Seurat.
