Lobsters

Definition of Lobsters as it relates to Animals, Marine Life, Sea Creatures

Lobsters are marine crustaceans known for their long, segmented bodies and powerful claws. They inhabit a variety of oceanic environments, from shallow coastal waters to deep sea trenches. Lobsters are scavengers, feeding on dead organisms and small prey they find on the ocean floor. Lobsters have a complex life cycle, starting as larvae that float in the open ocean before settling to the bottom and metamorphosing into juveniles. They molt their exoskeletons periodically as they grow, shedding their old shells and growing new ones. Lobsters are prized for their meat, which is considered a delicacy in many cultures. Overfishing has led to declines in some lobster populations, prompting conservation efforts and sustainable fishing practices.
