Definition of Sea Turtles as it relates to Animals, Marine Life, Ocean Animals

Sea turtles are majestic and ancient creatures that have inhabited Earth's oceans for over 100 million years. They belong to the family Cheloniidae and are characterized by their streamlined shells, paddle-like limbs, and beak-like mouths. Sea turtles can be found in all of the world's oceans, from the tropical waters of the Caribbean to the chilly waters of the Arctic. They play a vital role in maintaining the health of marine ecosystems by feeding on seagrasses and jellyfish, which helps to control the populations of these organisms. Sea turtles are also known for their long migrations, with some traveling thousands of miles between their nesting and feeding grounds. Unfortunately, sea turtles face numerous threats from human activities, including habitat loss, pollution, climate change, and accidental capture in fishing gear. As a result, many species of sea turtles are endangered or at risk of extinction. Conservation efforts are underway to protect these magnificent creatures and ensure their survival for future generations.
