Starfish
Starfish, also known as sea stars, belong to the class Asteroidea in the phylum Echinodermata. They are marine animals that inhabit various regions of the ocean, from shallow coastal waters to deep-sea environments. Despite their name, starfish are not fish; they lack gills, fins, and a true spine. Instead, they have a unique body structure characterized by a central disc and five or more radiating arms. Starfish move slowly along the seafloor, using their tube feet for locomotion and feeding on algae, mollusks, and other small organisms. They possess the remarkable ability to regenerate lost limbs, and some species can even regrow an entire body from a single arm. Starfish play a crucial role in marine ecosystems by helping control populations of certain organisms and maintaining biodiversity. Their distinctive appearance and fascinating biology have made them popular subjects of scientific study and captivated the interest of people worldwide.
