Pumas
Pumas, also known as mountain lions or cougars, are powerful and elusive members of the Felidae family. They inhabit diverse environments ranging from forests to deserts across North and South America. Adult pumas typically weigh between 70-135 pounds with females being smaller than males. These solitary hunters primarily prey on ungulates like deer but can also take down animals as large as elk or as small as rodents. Pumas are known for their agility, stealth, and incredible jumping ability, which allows them to climb trees or leap distances up to 40 feet. Their coats display a uniform tan color with a white belly, while their faces have distinct black markings around the eyes and mouth. Despite being hunted by humans, pumas maintain stable populations due to their adaptability and wide range.
