Pseudoscorpions are small arachnids, typically measuring between 2-8 millimeters in length, that resemble scorpions but lack a tail and stinger. They have a flat, oval-shaped body with eight legs, two pedipalps (modified legs used for feeding), and a pair of claws on the end of each pedipalp. These claws are used to capture and crush their prey, which consists mainly of small insects, mites, and other arthropods. Pseudoscorpions are found worldwide in a variety of habitats including leaf litter, soil, caves, and even human dwellings. They are generally harmless to humans and play an important role in controlling pest populations.
