Frameshift

Frameshift mutations are genetic mutations that occur when nucleotides are inserted or deleted from the DNA sequence. This disrupts the reading frame during translation, leading to a completely different amino acid sequence being produced. Frameshift mutations can have significant effects on protein structure and function, often resulting in nonfunctional or malfunctioning proteins.
