Food Chains
Food Chains are a series of interconnected organisms in an ecosystem, where each organism serves as a source of food for the next. This transfer of energy and nutrients occurs as one organism consumes another, creating a linear pathway of energy flow. In a food chain, producers (such as plants) are consumed by primary consumers (herbivores), which are then eaten by secondary consumers (carnivores), and so on. The chain typically ends with decomposers, which break down the remains of dead organisms and return nutrients back to the soil. Food chains are essential for maintaining the balance of ecosystems and ensuring the survival of various species.
