European Portuguese

European Portuguese refers to the variety of Portuguese spoken in Portugal and its former colonies, including Cape Verde, Mozambique, and Angola. It is characterized by certain phonological, lexical, and grammatical differences from Brazilian Portuguese, such as the pronunciation of certain vowels and consonants, as well as specific vocabulary and expressions. European Portuguese is also influenced by regional dialects within Portugal, such as the Northern, Central, and Southern dialects. It is the official language of Portugal and is spoken by approximately 10 million people worldwide.
