Chinchillas are small rodents native to the Andes Mountains of South America. Known for their soft and dense fur, chinchillas are popular as pets and for their luxurious pelts. They are crepuscular animals, meaning they are most active during dawn and dusk. Chinchillas are herbivores, feeding primarily on grasses, seeds, and hay. They are social creatures and are known to be playful and curious. In the wild, chinchillas live in colonies in rocky, burrow-filled habitats.
