Anuran
Anurans are a diverse group of amphibians characterized by their lack of tails as adults, short bodies, and typically long hind limbs adapted for jumping. They undergo metamorphosis, starting as aquatic larvae with gills and transitioning into terrestrial adults with lungs. Anurans have smooth, moist skin and lay their eggs in water or moist environments. They are commonly known as frogs and toads, with over 7,000 species found worldwide in a variety of habitats.
