Watershed

A watershed is an area of land where all of the water that falls onto it drains into a specific body of water, such as a river, lake, or ocean. This includes surface water runoff, as well as underground water sources. Watersheds are essential for providing clean drinking water, supporting aquatic ecosystems, and controlling flooding. They are divided by natural topographic features, such as ridges and mountains, that determine the direction in which water flows.
