Tree Rings
Tree rings are concentric circles found in the cross-section of a tree trunk, representing a year of growth. These rings are formed by the tree's annual growth cycles, with each ring typically consisting of a lighter-colored, less dense early wood and a darker-colored, denser late wood. By studying tree rings, scientists can determine the age of a tree, as well as gather information about past environmental conditions, such as climate patterns and natural disasters.
