Tarantula Hawk
A tarantula hawk is a type of spider wasp that hunts tarantulas as food for their larvae. These large, solitary wasps are known for their distinctive metallic blue-black bodies and bright orange wings. Tarantula hawks deliver a paralyzing sting to their prey before laying an egg on the tarantula's body. The wasp larva then hatches and feeds on the still-living spider until it is ready to pupate. Tarantula hawks are known for having one of the most painful insect stings in the world, causing intense, but short-lived, pain to humans.
