Stoneflies

Stoneflies are a type of insect belonging to the order Plecoptera. They are typically small to medium-sized insects with elongated bodies and long antennae. Stoneflies have two pairs of wings that are held flat over their bodies when at rest. They are known for their aquatic nymph stage, during which they are important indicators of water quality in freshwater ecosystems. Adult stoneflies are poor fliers and are commonly found near streams and rivers, where they feed on algae and detritus.
