Stegodons

Stegodons are a genus of large herbivorous mammals that belonged to the family Elephantidae. They were characterized by their long, curved tusks and large size, with some species reaching heights of over 13 feet at the shoulder. Stegodons roamed various regions of Asia and Africa during the Pleistocene epoch, with some species surviving until as recently as 4,100 years ago on the island of Flores in Indonesia. These prehistoric creatures are closely related to modern elephants and mammoths, sharing similar physical features and behaviors.
