Southern Lanternshark
The Southern Lanternshark, also known as the Etmopterus granulosus, is a species of dogfish shark found in the southern waters of the Atlantic Ocean. It has a slender body with a dark brown or black coloration, covered in small, rough denticles. This shark is known for its bioluminescent organs called photophores, which are used for communication and camouflage in the deep-sea environment. The Southern Lanternshark feeds mainly on small fish and invertebrates, using its sharp teeth to capture and consume prey. This species is typically found at depths of 200-1000 meters, where it roams the ocean floor in search of food.
