Silent Mutation
A silent mutation is a type of genetic alteration that does not result in any observable change in the phenotype of an organism. This mutation occurs when a single nucleotide in the DNA sequence is changed, but the new codon still codes for the same amino acid. As a result, the protein produced by the gene remains unchanged, and there is no impact on the organism's physical characteristics or function. Silent mutations are often considered neutral and may go unnoticed unless they occur in a critical region of the genome.
