Sea Urchins Reproduction
The process by which sea urchins, marine echinoderms belonging to the class Echinoidea, reproduce, involving the release of eggs and sperm into the water where fertilization occurs externally. Sea urchins have separate sexes and mating typically occurs through the broadcast spawning method, where males and females release their gametes simultaneously. Fertilized eggs develop into larvae which undergo a series of transformations before settling on the ocean floor and developing into adult sea urchins.
