Scaphopod Anatomy
The anatomy of scaphopods refers to the physical structures and features of tusk shells, a group of marine mollusks characterized by their elongated, tubular shells. This includes an elongated, conical shell with a small opening at one end, a muscular foot for burrowing in sediment, tentacles for feeding and sensing the environment, a digestive system for processing food, and a mantle that secretes the shell. Scaphopods also possess a radula for scraping algae and detritus off surfaces, gills for respiration, and a nervous system for coordinating movement and responses to stimuli.
