Sand Tiger Shark

The Sand Tiger Shark, also known as the Grey Nurse Shark or Spotted Ragged-tooth Shark, is a species of shark belonging to the family Odontaspididae. They are large, grey-colored sharks with a slender body and a pointed snout. They have distinctive teeth that protrude from their mouths even when it is closed, giving them a fierce appearance. Despite their intimidating look, Sand Tiger Sharks are generally not aggressive towards humans unless provoked. They are found in temperate and tropical waters worldwide, often near the coast or in shallow waters. Sand Tiger Sharks are known for their unique reproductive behavior, where the stronger embryos cannibalize their siblings in the womb, resulting in only one or two pups being born in each litter.
