Saltboxes
Saltboxes are a style of house typically found in New England, characterized by a two-story, wooden frame design with a long, pitched roof that slopes down to the back of the house. The name "saltbox" comes from the resemblance of the shape of the houses to the wooden boxes that were used to store salt in colonial times. These homes often feature central chimneys, small windows, and a simple, symmetrical facade. Saltboxes were popular in the 17th and 18th centuries and are still seen in historic New England towns today.
