Salmonellosis

Salmonellosis is a bacterial infection caused by various strains of Salmonella bacteria. It typically results in symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, fever, and headache. In severe cases, salmonellosis can lead to dehydration, septicemia, and even death, particularly in vulnerable populations such as young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems. The bacteria is commonly found in contaminated food and water sources, and can be transmitted through the consumption of raw or undercooked meat, poultry, eggs, and dairy products. Proper food handling and hand hygiene practices are crucial in preventing the spread of salmonellosis.
